Pixel Watch 2 and 3 get AI-powered Google scam detection

With the exponential increase in the number of scams and frauds these days, as we move towards a more connected future, brands like Google have been on their toes, trying to ensure that their users are protected from malicious actors. As a part of this bid, they had announced AI powered scam detection earlier in the year on Pixel phones, and it is now available on Pixel Watch 2 and 3.

Google's AI powered protector is now on your wrist

Google’s AI Scam Detection feature, as mentioned earlier had been rolled out on Pixel phones, and now, if you are someone with a Pixel 9 or a newer phone, you can use this feature on your Pixel Watch 2 and 3 which is connected to your phone via Bluetooth. This means, even when you are on the go, you will be protected against scamsters for the most part.

The scam detection feature will for now work in the US for English language calls only, however, we expect it to make its debut in India soon. To be honest, we can’t wait for it.

How to use Google Scam Detection on your phone?

Turning on AI Scam Detection on your Pixel watch is a fairly simple process. Here’s how you can do it –

– Update your Phone app to the latest version.
– Open the Phone app.
– Tap the three dots, navigate to Settings and then Scam Detection.
– Turn Scam Detection on.

And you should be set. Now, whenever you get a call, an audible beep at the start of the call and every few minutes, indicating that scam detection is on and working. The Pixel Watch you want to use the Scam Detection feature on, should be connected to your phone via Bluetooth, otherwise the feature won’t work.
