Panasonic Lumix G9II is here to take on the mirrorless camera market

Mirrorless cameras are all the rage right now, with photographers the world over making the shift from DSLRs to the former. Several brands including Sony, Nikon, and Canon have multiple mirrorless offerings across price points. Well, another such brand happens to be Panasonic, which has just unveiled its latest mirrorless camera in India – the Lumix G9II. Here’s all you need to know.

Panasonic Lumix G9II features and key specifications

The Panasonic Lumix G9II sports a Live MOS sensor with an effective image resolution of 25.2MP. There is also a 100MP handheld-hi-res mode, available on RAW and JPEG format images, which helps provide for greater resolution. The mirorrless camera also supports shooting at 60fps in AFC mode and 75fps in AFS mode, which when coupled with the pre-burst shooting mode, helps shoot images even before the shutter button is released – which helps capture key moments, especially if a subject is on the move. This mode can begin shooting up to 1.5 seconds before the button is released and can take approximately 113 images consecutively.

The Lumix G9II is the first camera from Panasonic to feature the company’s Phase Detection Auto Focus technology. What it does is allow the camera to auto-focus on and track swiftly moving objects. There is also an auto-detect feature for animals, vehicles, and more.

Coming to video, the latest mirrorless camera from Panasonic supports 4K recording at 120p and FHD recording at a 280p resolution, ensuring a a high resolution. Moreover, the Lumix G9II also features an 8-stop Body Image Stabiliser (BIS), which helps further enhance the quality of any footage or images one may be looking to capture.

What’s cool is that the camera can record and store images directly to an SSD via USB Type-C connectivity, ensuring images and footage can be reviewed on the go quickly and safely.

Other features on the Lumix G9II camera include a LEICA monochrome shooting mode for images, as well as a look-up-table (LUT) which helps photographers review colour palettes on their images in real-time.

Panasonic Lumix G9II pricing and availability

The body of the Panasonic LUMIX G9II costs Rs 1,74,990. Coming to the combo kit, which includes a Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-60mm lens, the camera will set you back Rs 2,28,990. The camera can be purchased from Panasonic stores, Lumix lounges, as well as the Panasonic website, and all major e-commerce portals and partner retail outlets across India.
