OnePlus Nord CE4 vs Nothing Phone (2a): A head-on-comparison

OnePlus just launched the OnePlus Nord CE4 in India, firing up the affordable mid-range segment with a new phone. However, it isn’t the only entry in the under Rs 25,000 segment, the other being the recently launched Nothing Phone (2a).

With both affordable mid-range smartphones now launched, it’s a good time to compare their specifications. Here’s a head-on comparison between both devices so you can know which set of specifications are better for you, should you be looking for a new phone.

OnePlus Nord CE4 vs Nothing Phone (2a): Design

Both the OnePlus Nord CE4 and the Nothing Phone (2a) come with a different approach to design. While the OnePlus features a sleek and minimal look, the Nothing Phone (2a) comes with a more edgy, head-turning look.

Designs are subjective, so we will leave it up to you to decide which phone you like more when it comes to the looks.

OnePlus Nord CE4 vs Nothing Phone (2a): Display

Both the OnePlus Nord CE4 and the Nothing Phone (2a) come with a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate and an in-display fingerprint sensor. However, the OnePlus Nord CE4 display gets an edge with the Aqua Touch feature, allowing it to be used better when wet as the display is less likely to be triggered by water drops.

OnePlus Nord CE4 vs Nothing Phone (2a): Performance

The OnePlus Nord CE4 is powered by the 4nm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, which can clock a maximum of 2.63GHz. Meanwhile, the Nothing Phone (2a)’s MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro chip can clock higher speeds of 2.8GHz.

While the Nothing Phone edges out the OnePlus in terms of pure processing speed, a lot of other elements go into the overall performance of a phone. To conclude, we’d say that both the OnePlus Nord CE4 and the Nothing Phone (2a) should offer similar performance in day-to-day life, gaming and multitasking.

Do note, however, that the Nothing Phone (2a) is available in a 12GB RAM variant, which should offer better multitasking and future-proofing compared to the highest-end variant of the OnePlus Nord CE4, which maxes out at 8GB RAM.

OnePlus Nord CE4 vs Nothing Phone (2a): Cameras

The OnePlus Nord CE4 comes with 50MP main and an 8MP ultrawide camera on the rear, whereas the Nothing Phone (2a) features a 50MP main and a 50MP ultrawide camera. The Nothing Phone (2a) also has a higher resolution front camera than the OnePlus (32MP vs 16MP).

Megapixels aren’t everything, though, and both cameras will have their own software features like filters, shooting modes and more. We suggest you try both phones to determine what suits your shooting style more.

OnePlus Nord CE4 vs Nothing Phone (2a): Battery and charging

The OnePlus Nord CE4 comes with a 5,500mAh battery and support for 100W fast charging. Meanwhile, the Nothing Phone (2a) comes with a 5,000mAh battery and 45W wired charging.

The OnePlus Nord CE4 offers both a bigger battery, and faster wired charging, so for anyone looking to stay far away from the charger, the OnePlus should offer a better experience.

Unboxed Take: Which phone should you go for?

Both the OnePlus Nord CE4 and the Nothing Phone (2a) are very closely matched devices. While the Nothing offers a more unique design and higher-resolution cameras, the OnePlus Nord CE4 has a bigger battery and a more subtle design.

While aspects like design will be subjective, anyone looking for a better camera performance can find better hardware on Nothing Phone (2a). Meanwhile, those who travel a lot and need the better battery life should be better off with the OnePlus Nord CE4.
