OnePlus Open launch on October 19: Everything we know about the upcoming foldable phone

Fold and flip smartphones seem to be all the rage this year. Devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 and Flip5 have garnered the attention of many. The most recent addition to the list happens to be the Oppo Find N3 Flip, just unveiled in India yesterday. Now, the latest player about to jump onto the foldable bandwagon is OnePlus.

The brand has already confirmed that its latest foldable device will be called the OnePlus Open. And now, it has confirmed that the launch is going to take place in Mumbai on October 19. The upcoming device has been in the rumour mills for quite some time now. So, ahead of the official launch, here’s a roundup of everything we know so far about the upcoming OnePlus foldable phone.

Design

Leaked renders of the new OnePlus Open suggest that it will feature a circular rear camera module placed centrally, unlike the OnePlus 11 which sports an offset camera.

In addition to this, the device is expected to sport rounded edges and a leather-like finish on the back, with volume rockers and the power button on the right. Also, OnePlus loyalists have a reason to rejoice, as the Open appears to retain the Alert Slider on the left side.

Display

The OnePlus Open is expected to be offered with a 7.82-inch OLED display on the inside sporting 2440 x 2268 pixels resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The outer display is expected to be an OLED panel as well that is 6.3 inches in size, and sporting 1116 x 2484 pixels resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

Processor and battery

The soon-to-launch smartphone is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, paired with up to 16GB of RAM, and as much as 1TB of storage built in. In addition to this, the device is also expected to sport a 4,800mAh battery, which will support 100W SuperVOOC fast charging.

Cameras

Coming to optics, the new OnePlus Open is expected to be offered with a Hasselblad-camera setup similar to the OnePlus 11 5G. This is likely to include a 48MP primary shooter, a 48MP ultrawide lens, and a 64MP telephoto lens. On the front, rumours point at either a 32MP or a 20MP camera for selfies and video calls.

Pricing and availability

OnePlus has officially confirmed that it will unveil its new Open in Mumbai on October 19. However, there has been no word on the exact date of sale. If rumours are to be believed, the foldable phone could be priced below the Rs 1,20,000 mark, meaning it could give stiff competition to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold5. Either way, we can’t wait to get our hands on OnePlus’ new Open and see just what it has in store for us.
