OnePlus 13 likely to be announced next month with Snapdragon 8 Gen 4

Apple may have the headlines for today, with the brand’s ‘Glowtime’ event set to launch the next iPhone later tonight. However, OnePlus has cheekily given the internet a reminder that the brand plans to launch its own flagship soon. Now, we finally have a timeline of when that will be.

OnePlus China President Louis Lee took to Chinese micro-blogging platform Weibo earlier today to talk about how improved the performance on the next OnePlus flagship Android phone is. The lengthy post comprising three paragraphs mentions that this flagship is set to launch (in China, at least) next month.

Now while no names were given away in the post, we’re pretty sure Lee is hinting at the next smartphone in the OnePlus number series, likely to be called the OnePlus 13.

OnePlus 13: What we know so far

The OnePlus 13 is one of the most anticipated phones of the year, and several leaks around the device have been surfacing the web for months now.

While the next Snapdragon 8-series chip on the phone was a no-brainer, the OnePlus 13 is also expected to come with other specifications you’d expect from a flagship chip.

These include a large 6.8-inch OLED display panel, along with a quad-curved design with the screen flowing into the edges on all four sides. The display is also expected to come with 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, along with an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner instead of an optical one – a change we also saw with the Pixel 9 series this year.

A 50MP main camera is expected to team up with a 50MP ultrawide and another 50M telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom on the phone. The device is also expected to come with a large 6,000mAh battery, 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

While the phone is set to be announced in China next month, it remains to be seen when it will launch in other markets including India. This could be over the next few months after the China announcement, so we assume the phone may come to India in late 2024 or early 2025.

The OnePlus 13 will also join several other phones this year in sporting the new Qualcomm chip. This will likely also include the new Nothing Phone that was teased by Carl Pei a few months ago.
