Google’s Gemini (formerly Bard) has been in the news for multiple reasons. For one, it was made available to Android devices earlier this year. Many smartphone brands such as Oppo and OnePlus also announced an integration with the Gemini LLM for improved on-device features.

Gemini for Android 10: What's there to know?
While the company earlier mentioned how Gemini will remain exclusive to Android 12 and higher, Google has now quietly extended its AI capabilities to Android 10 and 11 users as well.
As per a 9to5Google report, this development will roll out with a recent update and can replace Google Assistant on most devices. The report further mentions how Gemini for Android, v1.0.626720042, and users can get it for themselves by installing the app on their devices.

Until recently, users with Android version 10 or 11 could only access Gemini on their desktop or laptop browser. However, the aim of this development is primarily to make AI available to several other uses with an older handset.
What will change for smartphones with Android 10 and below?
Google has silently replaced the listing on the Play Store; however, you might still find that the official support page for Gemini mentions Android 12 or higher. That said, once installed, you will find that the Gemini app will replace an existing Google Assistant app on your smartphone.
It is crucial to note that while Gemini can carry out most tasks a Google Assistant could, certain commands may still require the support of the old virtual assistant to carry them out.
Google also seems to have many other updates for Gemini up its sleeve in the near future, with the update in place, it will be likely for a larger audience to enjoy and make the most of them.
