Nothing Phone (2a) to launch on March 5, to be cheaper than Phone (1)

One of the most awaited smartphones right now is the upcoming Nothing Phone (2a). Nothing’s third smartphone, and an expected successor to the Nothing Phone (1), the new phone is likely to be an interesting device.

Now, CEO Carl Pei has just confirmed in a new video that the phone will be launching on March 5. Previous rumours had the phone set up for a MWC 2024 unveal later this month, and it remains to be seen if that is still on the cards.

Nothing Phone (2a): What we know so far

The Nothing Phone (2a) is expected to be an upgrade over the Phone (1), as revealed by the company in a previous video.

However, Pei’s new video also hints at the new device being more affordable than the original Phone (1). This difference in pricing, especially if it translates into the Indian market, would really set the phone up for some serious competition in the mid-range segment.

Being priced at about Rs 30,000, or slightly below it, would put the Phone (2a) against a number of mid-range phones from Redmi, Samsung, and several other brands.

The Nothing Phone (2a) is also expected to launch with a newly designed rear panel, complete with new Glyph Lights. This too, is a first for the brand, as both the Phone (1) and the Phone (2) featured similar back panels.

Not much is known about what’s inside the Phone (2a) just yet, but with the price segment in mind, we imagine the phone will sport a mid-range chipset like the Snapdragon 7 series.

Other aspects include a dual rear camera setup, Nothing OS and the brand’s signature transparent design. We should know more about the Phone (2a) as we get closer to the launch date, which is just a few more weeks now.
