Nothing launched their third smartphone – the Nothing Phone (2a) earlier this month. Succeeding the original Nothing Phone (1), the new mid-range device is an affordable power-packed package that still retains most of Nothing’s signature design elements. Now, the new phone already has its first update in the form of Nothing OS 2.5.3.
The update brings a number of changes and new additions to the smartphone. Let’s take a quick look at what these changes and features are, before we tell you how you can quickly update your Nothing Phone.

Nothing OS 2.5.3 brings quite a few new additions to the device, and is not a simple post-launch hotfix update.

For starters, the update brings Ultra XDR support to the camera app, improves the general camera performance, and brings multiple improvements across other aspects like HDR and colour saturation. The update also reportedly improves details for pictures taken with the front camera.
Apart from this, the new update brings in enhanced background app performance as well as a better touchscreen experience. Nothing also mentions numerous refinements across the user interface. There are also new haptic level settings thrown in.
Nothing OS has been doubling down its efforts on customisation lately, and the new update is no different. It brings new widgets for the Camera, Recorder and Battery apps, all of which can be added to your homescreen for quick access.
How to download and install Nothing OS 2.5.3
To get the new update on your Nothing Phone (2a), you can head over to Settings > System > System Update. You should see the card for a new update here, after which you can simply follow on-screen instructions to get the new update up and running.

Do ensure that you do this when your phone as at least 30 per cent battery left to avoid any untimely shutdowns. If you don’t see an update yet in your System Update page, you can try again in few hours, as most Android phone updates are usually delivered in batches.
