Nothing OS 2.6 update for Phone (2) brings new features, improvements to game mode

Nothing took the wraps off the Phone (2) exactly a year ago, and fans today are eagerly awaiting news around the launch of Nothing Phone (3). While the brand may not end up launching its new flagship until early next year, it has ensured three Android version upgrades and four years of (bi-monthly) security patch updates for the Phone (2) as well as the Phone (1).

Owing to this, the brand recently rolled out the latest Nothing OS 2.6 update which promises significant improvements and bug fixes for the Phone (2). Here’s everything you need to know.

Nothing OS 2.6 update: What's new?

The Phone (2) will also get enhanced initial setup for the weather app/widget. This will allow them to add user-friendly prompts to a specific city. Nothing has also provided additional support to display CMF Watch battery levels within the Quick Settings Bluetooth tile. Apart from this, the brand has also optimised the ‘Low Lag Mode’ experience for Nothing earbuds.

Next, gamers will be able to access the Game Dashboard during a session by tapping the left sidebar. Incoming calls during games will also be displayed with a pop-up view and users will be able to reject third-party app calls during gameplay. In addition to this, Nothing has added one-tap callback support after rejecting a regular call.

The OS update brings optimised light notifications that will display more information during gameplay. It will also support blocking notifications to help reduce distractions during sessions. Lastly, Nothing has introduced significant bug fixes and has made improvements to voice and call recordings on WhatsApp.

When will the Nothing OS 2.6 update be available for everyone?

The Nothing OS 2.6 update is currently being deployed in a phased manner, and the brand will follow a staggered approach to monitor any potential issues. If you haven’t received the update yet, you can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > System > System Update.
