Nintendo Switch 2 with a larger screen, magnetic Joy-Cons announced

Nintendo has officially announced the new Nintendo Switch 2. The second generation of the Switch console comes eight years after the release of the original Switch back in 2017. The latest Switch 2 offers a large screen, magnetic Joy-Cons, and more storage, among other things. Here’s everything you need to know.

All about the new Nintendo Switch 2

The latest Nintendo Switch 2 has a bigger footprint, thanks to a larger screen. The Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch display with a 1080p resolution support. Unfortunately, it’s an LCD panel, but you get HDR and up to 120fps support in select games.

Apart from the display, the Switch 2 also comes with magnetic Joy-Cons, meaning you can simply snap those when you feel like using them. The new Joy-Cons also feature the larger SL and SR buttons and the new C button for summoning the Game Chat. Notably, the Joy-Con doubles up as a mouse in some games, allowing you to easily navigate.

Moving on to the dock, it has been improved with a cooling solution built-in, and it now supports up to 4K screens. Nintendo also showcased the Switch 2 Camera, which will let you express better with Game Chat.

Other than this, the Switch 2 also comes with faster RAM and a whole lot of storage. It has 256GB of onboard storage and users also get to expand it with a microSD EXPRESS card. This means you cannot use your old non-EXPRESS card to store games.

The Switch 2 also has all the essential connectivity options, including two USB-C port and a 3.5mm jack for connecting wired headphones. As for game compatibility, the Switch 2 does support a lot of older titles, however, not all Switch games are supported.
