Nintendo is often associated with some of our fondest childhood memories, and rightfully so. It only takes the first few seconds of an iconic Super Mario Bros tune to teleport us back to the cliched good ‘ol days.
In a surprising announcement, the brand has treated its fans with a Spotify-like music streaming smartphone app that opens up a treasure trove of its nostalgic tunes. The app, known as Nintendo Music, comes in right when avid fans await the release of its next console.
What is Nintendo Music?
Imagine all your favourite background scores, music, and songs in one place — and all 40 years’ worth of them. The smartphone app brings nostalgic favourites like Kirby, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, and The Legend of Zelda, along with its current franchises.

If that’s not all, the app also features curated playlists themed around your favourite games, moods, and moments. And if you’re worried about encountering spoilers in a game you haven’t finished yet, the app also gives you the option to filter out the games you don’t want to come across accidentally. Apart from these features, users can also stream on loop for up to 15, 30 or 60 minutes, and download tracks for offline streaming as well.
Nintendo Music: Availability details
The app is currently only available in select regions and the brand hasn’t confirmed if it will be available in other countries, including India. However, Nintendo Music can be downloaded for both Android and iOS devices.
It comes at no extra charge for Switch Online subscribers in the US and Canada. In other non-Switch related announcements, Nintendo also announced Alarmo, which can wake you up to the sounds of your favourite nostalgic tunes and characters.
