Nikon just introduced a new, updated addition to its Z50 lineup of mirrorless cameras – the Nikon Z50II APS-C. The camera is the company’s solution for vloggers and budding content creators looking for a compact mirrorless camera minus the bulk. It makes a second entrant with the APS-C size/DX format and even gets various improvements, including a ‘Picture Control’ button which allows quick access to preset image settings. Nikon Z50II APS-C: Key features and specifications to look out for
For starters, the camera comes with a reimagined design and is slightly larger than its predecessor. Nikon goes on to mention that the primary intended use is aimed at content creators looking for a lightweight, budget mirrorless camera for their projects. It states how the Z50II APS-C combines fun imaging features with superior functionsand brings in the best of both worlds.
The Nikon Z50II APS-C comes equipped with a product review mode which focuses on an item or product held in front of the lens. It also has the ability to seamlessly switch back to the person in the frame showing the product. It gets simplified live-streaming to platforms such as Twitch, YouTube Live, or meeting software like Zoom. Additionally, the camera supports Nikon Imaging Cloud as well.

Coming to the sensor, the Z50II employs Nikon’s 20MP DX-format sensor coupled with the Expeed 7 processor, which is used by the company’s latest full-frame models. The addition also makes the camera have the same advanced autofocus option as Nikon’s flagship Z9 and Z8 do. The camera can carry out subject detection and 3D tracking, which gives it a significant boost over its predecessor’s autofocus abilities.

Buy nowThis time around, Nikon has also made crucial improvements to the viewfinder, making it ‘twice as bright’ with 1,000 nits of brightness. According to the brand, this deems the camera fit to record and shoot outside on sunny days. The rear screen also comes with a side-hinged, fully articulated design instead of a tilt option.
Video recording on the Z50II is available in 4K at 60fps at a 1.5x crop. However, users looking to shoot at full-sensor width can do so at 4K, 30fps as well.
Nikon Z50II APS-C: Price and availability
The Nikon Z50II APS-C is now available in India and can be purchased via the brand’s official website. It is priced at Rs 91,645 for the camera only, Rs 1,12,645 when purchased with the Nikkor Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR zoom; and Rs 1,15 795 when purchased with a twin-lens kit that also adds the Nikkor Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR telephoto zoom.
Alternatively, you can also invest in the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III 20.4MP mirrorless camera or the Canon EOS R10 24.2MP mirrorless camera, which offer a similar set of features within this price range.
