New video games you shouldn’t miss in March 2025

March 2025 is bringing a stacked lineup of games, with major sequels, fresh RPGs, and action-packed adventures. Hitting shelves this month, Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes the series to feudal Japan, introducing a vast open world with dynamic seasons and two distinct protagonists, Fujibayashi Naoe, a shinobi assassin, and Yasuke, a powerful samurai.

Wrestling fans can look forward to WWE 2K25, boasting an expanded roster, new game modes like The Island, and the long-awaited return of intergender matches. For something darker, Atomfall drops players into an alternate-history 1960s, five years after the Windscale nuclear disaster.

The eerie open-world thriller challenges you to survive with limited resources while facing mutated creatures, rogue factions, and a web of hidden secrets. Here’s a closer look at all the biggest games hitting shelves this March.

1. Assassin's Creed Shadows

Set in Japan’s late 16th-century Sengoku period, Assassin’s Creed Shadows throws you into a war-torn era where the Assassin Brotherhood and Templar Order battle for control. You’ll play as two distinct protagonists: Fujibayashi Naoe, a swift and stealthy shinobi, and Yasuke, a powerful African samurai based on a real historical figure. Their unique playstyles let you choose between sneaky assassinations or head-on combat.

The game introduces new mechanics like shadow manipulation, tight-space crawling, and a grappling hook for parkour. Furthermore, the open world evolves with the changing seasons affecting the world, from icy winters to lush spring landscapes.

A revamped stealth system sharpens Naoe and Yasuke’s senses, helping you track and take down targets. And with an arsenal of historically accurate weapons, including the kusarigama and arquebus, combat feels more immersive than ever.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows launches on March 20, 2025, on PC, macOS, iPadOS, and consoles, like the PlayStation 5.

2. Atomfall

Atomfall takes you to an alternate 1960s, where the Windscale nuclear disaster has turned Northern England into a radioactive wasteland. As an amnesiac survivor, you’ll explore the desolate Lake District, searching for answers while fighting to stay alive. With mutated creatures, rogue military agents, cult members, and deadly robots lurking around every corner, survival requires more than just firepower.

This first-person survival action game combines action with survival, where managing your health and heart rate is just as crucial as combat, with sprinting, fighting, and even kicking enemies pushing your body to its limits. Go too hard, and you’ll deal with blurred vision and distorted hearing, forcing you to think before you act. The open world is packed with interconnected zones, NPCs to interact with, and choices that shape your journey.

Atomfall launches on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Microsoft’s newest consoles on March 27, 2025.

3. Bleach: Rebirth of Souls

Bleach: Rebirth of Souls brings the action-packed world of Bleach to life like never before. This 1v1 fighter from Bandai Namco delivers fast-paced battles with a roster full of iconic characters. Fan favourites like Sosuke Aizen and Shigekuni Genryusai Yamamoto join the fight, with Aizen’s deceptive powers and Yamamoto’s devastating fire attacks making for some intense matchups.

The combat system focuses on managing Reishi and Konpaku, pushing players to think fast and strike at the right moment. Quick Attacks keep opponents on their toes, while powerful Kikon Moves can break their defences. As the fight escalates, characters can unleash Shikai and Bankai transformations, turning the tide in an instant.

Bleach: Rebirth of Souls launches on March 21, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Microsoft’s newest consoles.

4. Everhood 2

Everhood 2 is back with its signature rhythm-based combat, but this time, it’s bigger, bolder, and even more surreal. The game released last week, exactly four years after the original, this sequel takes you on a reality, bending journey to uncover your “soul color” and defeat the enigmatic Mind Dragon.

Along the way, you’ll meet a wild cast, from the celestial Raven to historical icons like Joan of Arc, Carl Jung, and Rasputin, all woven into a chaotic yet thought-provoking narrative. Combat builds on the original’s rhythm-dodging mechanics but now lets you fight back with parries and weapons like the Moon Blades and Ragnarok Skull-Axe.

The world is also bigger than ever, featuring bizarre locations like the war-torn Vegetable Kingdom, and a playtime nearly double that of the first game. Everhood 2 is now available on PC.

5. MLB The Show 25

MLB The Show 25 is stepping up to the plate with its most immersive baseball experience yet. This year’s edition packs in major upgrades, including the all-new Ambush Hitting system and the ultra-tough GOAT difficulty, making every at-bat more intense. SHOWTECH-powered visuals bring stunning realism, with smoother animations and jaw-dropping stadium details. Road to the Show gets a fresh twist, letting you rise through the ranks from high school and college to the big leagues, with deeper customisation and progression.

MLB The Show 25’s storyline explores baseball history, expanding on the legacy of the Negro Leagues. Diamond Dynasty shakes things up with Diamond Quest, a board game-style mode, and Weekend Classic, a high-stakes multiplayer challenge. Franchise mode also returns with even more team management depth.

MLB The Show 25 swings onto PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch on March 18, 2025.

6. WWE 2K25

WWE 2K25 is set to be one of the biggest entries in the series, dropping just before WrestleMania on March 14, 2025. With a massive roster of over 300 wrestlers, including legends like Afa and Sika alongside rising NXT stars like Oba Femi and Kelani Jordan, there’s no shortage of talent to step into the ring with.
