New OnePlus Watch 2 variant announced with updated design and eSIM support

Only a couple of months after introducing the OnePlus Watch 2 at MWC 2024, OnePlus has gone on to announce a new variant of the wearable in China.

With a slightly different design and eSIM support, the watch is rumoured to be rebranded to the OnePlus Watch 2R before launching in the global markets in the future.

OnePlus Watch 2 key features to look out for

Unlike the model launched in India, the new OnePlus Watch 2 gets a different design compared to the aluminium alloy case on the current variant. Apart from this, OnePlus has added eSIM support for standalone calling, along with Bluetooth calling, for both Android and iOS devices. The new OnePlus Watch 2 also runs on ColorOS instead of Wear OS and gets NFC support.

Other than that, both wearable devices have largely the same features, including a 1.43-inch AMOLED display, 1,000 nits peak brightness along with a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 and BES 2700 MCU chipsets. They also get IP68 water and dust resistance and over 100 sports modes.

OnePlus has also equipped both smartwatches with automatic workout detection for six selected workouts. Lastly, the OnePlus Watch 2 comes with a 500mAh battery capacity, and the brand claims it can last for 12 days with the Power Saving mode.

When will the new OnePlus Watch 2 be available in India?

The OnePlus Watch 2 will be available in Meteorite Black and Nebula Green colours and is priced at CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs 20,700). The smartwatch, for now, will only be available for purchase in China and it is hard to tell if it will come to global or Indian markets.

For now, you can buy the OnePlus 2 smartwatch in India or alternate options like Apple Watch SE or the Fitbit Versa 2 smartwatch.
