5 new Google Search features coming to your Android and iOS devices

Google has always worked towards enhancing its user experience by employing new and innovative tech in its services from time to time. Whether it is introducing AI overviews for Google Search or new dedicated Google Maps features for the holidays, there’s no denying that digital-efficiency has always been a first on its list.

Recently via a blog post, the brand announced five new updates coming to Chrome for both Android smartphones and iOS users. According to the brand, the features will help boost the search experience for users across various devices. Here’s everything you need to know about them:

5 new features that are coming to Google Chrome

Whether you use a smartphone to look your queries up or your tablet, these are five new features coming to Google Chrome that are designed to improve your online experience.

1. Chrome Actions

Google has added Chrome Actions for the time a user wishes to interact with a local business in the area. For instance, if you search for a nearby restaurant, Google will now show shortcuts to help place calls, look up directions and have easy access to the phone numbers. The feature has rolled out for Android Chrome users and will be available for iOS in the second half of this year.

2. Revamped search bar for tablets

A tablet is often the right size when it feels too cumbersome to use a laptop or uncomfortable to read on a phone. Google has taken tablet users into consideration and has equipped a new search bar keeping the Material You design language in mind.

3. New Shortcut suggestions

Google has introduced new shortcut suggestions for Chrome which will soon allow users to get to their preferred website faster. For instance, if you prefer using a keyphrase, such as ‘schedule’ to look up train timings, Google will begin showing your frequented timetable website as a priority the next time you type ‘schedule’ in your search bar.

4. Trending searches for iOS and Android

If you need a little inspiration, Google will allow you to look up trending search suggestions on your Chrome address bar. This feature, which is already live for Android users, will show up as soon as you tap the address bar to type your query.

5. Live Sports Cards on Search

If you’re a sports fan, this Google feature will ensure you don’t miss out on important updates. The brand has now equipped live sports cards that will show up on Chrome’s Discover feed on the New Tab page for Android as well as iOS devices. If you’ve expressed interest in your favourite team and sport, Google will use this information to show you regular updates when they’re playing. Apart from that, you will also be able to customise your Discover Feed in your Chrome mobile app using a three-dot menu.

While all the updates have gradually begun rolling out, if you haven’t had access to them yet, don’t worry. Google is phasing them out in a timely manner and will soon make them available across Android and iOS devices.
