The first half of 2024 delivered a barrage of fantastic games, and July shows no signs of slowing down. Although The Lands Between remains as unforgiving as ever in the new Elden Ring DLC, if you’re looking to take a break from getting pummeled by monsters, July’s new games are here with a smorgasbord of genres.
This month brings the much-awaited fifth Final Fantasy 14 expansion – Dawntrail to the series. Additionally, F1 Manager 2024 is incoming and will let you create your own team for the first time, challenging you to forge a new legacy on the grid. 1. Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus
Launching on July 18, for PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus is a 2.5D action-adventure platformer that promises to offer a visually captivating adventure with a compelling blend of action, exploration, and resource management. You take on the role of Bō, a celestial fox spirit, as you explore a world inspired by Japanese folklore.
The narrative follows Bō’s journey to uncover a mysterious prophecy tied to their origins. As you play through the game, you will encounter a variety of creatures and challenges rooted in Japanese mythology, including yokai and awe-inspiring mythical beings.

One of the unique features of the game is the “move-and-reset” system, which lets you adapt to challenges and bounce back from mistakes. Furthermore, you can brew special concoctions to unlock new abilities for Bō’s shapeshifting staff, turning it into a powerful weapon or giving you nifty movement options like the Lotus Dash and Grappling Gun.
2. EA Sports College Football 25
After a decade-long wait, EA is bringing back the legendary college football series with EA Sports College Football 25. It is set to hit PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on July 19.
Not only does the game look good, but it’s also packed with exciting upgrades like strategic challenges, a deep gameplay system, more teams, and an authentic college football atmosphere.
For the first time, you can lead real college athletes thanks to the NIL program, while the new “wear and tear” system makes you manage player fatigue and injuries throughout the season.
There’s also a “pre-snap recognition” feature that keeps you on your toes with quick thinking and tactical adjustments. And yes, the fan-favourite Ultimate Team is here too, letting you build your dream college team and compete online.
3. F1 Manager 2024
The 2024 F1 season is in full throttle, but what if you could be the brains behind the scenes instead of just watching? Frontier Developments’ new F1 Manager 2024 lets you do just that, allowing you to step into the high-stakes world of a team principal.
This officially licensed management sim puts you in charge of your own Formula 1 team, giving you the power to lead a powerhouse to victory or forge your own path with a brand-new team.
F1 Manager 2024 comes with a suite of new features that improve the management experience. Firstly, there’s a new “Mentality System” that lets you keep your drivers and staff performing at their best by managing their morale. The game also has an “Affiliate Program” that lets you nurture young talent in the F2 and F3 feeder series, potentially grooming future stars for your F1 team.
You’ll even need to sharpen your strategic skills against a smarter AI, where rival teams can now poach your prized staff and drivers. For those who love a bit of history, the enhanced “Race Replay” mode lets you relive and even change key moments from the real 2024 F1 season.
F1 Manager 2024 will be available on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One and Series X/S, and for the first time ever, Nintendo Switch.
4. Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail
Fans of Square Enix’s long-running MMORPG, Final Fantasy 14, can rejoice as the fifth expansion, Dawntrail, is finally coming to PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
This brand-new expansion takes players on a vacation of sorts to the distant continent of Tural, a land steeped in cultural tapestry and vying for leadership.

Tural, the ‘New World’, is a vast landmass divided into regions with a rich, war-torn past, now unified under the banner of Tuliyollal. Players will champion Wuk Lamat, a contender in the succession of Tuliyollal’s ruler while encountering familiar faces from Eorzea who support different candidates.
Apart from a new location, Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail will also offer a wealth of new content in the form of dungeons, raids, trials, and PvP updates as well as a brand-new story, continuing after Endwalker.
5. The First Descendant
Publisher Nexon is bringing a fresh face to the looter-shooter scene with The First Descendant, launching on PC, PlayStation 4/5, and Xbox One/Series X/S. This frenetic co-op shooter puts you in the shoes of the Descendants, humanity’s last hope against a relentless alien threat in a war-torn post-apocalyptic world.
You can choose from various different Descendants, each with their own special abilities and play both solo and co-op missions. The core gameplay loop revolves around collecting a constantly evolving arsenal and defeating giant bosses. There are also tons of endgame content to keep you hooked.
6. Zenless Zone Zero
If you’re in the mood for a post-apocalyptic anime beatdown, then Zenless Zone Zero, the latest from miHoYo (developers of Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail) might be just what you need.
This free-to-play action RPG takes place in New Eridu, humanity’s last safe haven against the monstrous Ethereal that spill from dimensional rifts called the Hollows. As a Proxy, you’ll be the guide for brave souls venturing into these rifts.

The game’s stylish, “cinematic” combat system will let you unleash hell with a variety of weapons, from pistols and axes to katanas and machine guns. And just like Genshin Impact, you’ll command a team of unique characters, each with their own special skills, to conquer the Hollows and secure humanity’s future.
Zenless Zone Zero will be available on PC, mobile (iOS/Android), and PlayStation 5.
