Netflix is bringing in a homepage overhaul that is aimed at people who can’t decide what they want to watch. Sounds like you? As it turns out, the streaming platform stated how it observed viewers only scanning its current homepage and going over titles without actually clicking on them.
With its new update, the platform might make it relatively easier for users to find a suitable movie or series of their choice; here’s how it will work:
Netflix homepage revamp: What's there to know?
As of today, the Netflix homepage features a bunch of static tiles that contain the title and poster of the concerned show or film. The current design doesn’t show a user the trailer or any other information until a user taps on it.
As per Netflix, the overhaul will ensure subscribers find it easier to discover the titles that they enjoy. The new design, for one, will consolidate the information you’re looking for to make it more prominent on your screen.

On hovering over the title of your choice, Netflix will begin playing a preview within the tile itself. If that’s not all, users will also be able to find all relevant information, such as the number of episodes, seasons, genre, certification, and more, within the tile. The refresh will also do away with the menu on the left-hand side and will replace it with a more streamlined selection on the top of your screen.
This means your regular Search, Home, Shows, Movies and My Netflix buttons will now feature on top of the screen. The new menu will also be available by pressing the back button on your remote but will not have a few regular other options, including Categories, New & Popular or My List tabs.
However, in place of this, users will be able to access the My Netflix tab and will be able to get customised recommendations, along with previously watched titles and lists, all in one place. Categories, on the other hand, will be accessible within the Search bar.
Netflix homepage revamp: When will the update be available for everyone?
The new homepage is currently being tested on a small group of people, but the streaming platform mentions how it could gradually expand this based on feedback. This would mark the company’s first big update in over a decade; however, with it already diving into different types of content, an overhaul like this might be a welcome change.
