Space fans now get their own streaming platform, straight from NASA

NASA+ streaming service launched: What it is and where to watch it

The streaming platform craze started a few years ago, with long time players like Netflix and Hotstar going strong, many other brands also launched their own OTT platforms for viewers to watch their favourite content on demand. However, we’re now entering the phase where streaming platforms dedicated to niche segments have started growing popular.

The example of the moment is NASA+, the space agency’s very own streaming platform dedicated to fans of the extra-terrestrial. Here’s everything you need to know about the same.

What is NASA+?

NASA+ is a streaming platform, similar to other names like Netflix, Apple TV or Hotstar. However, instead of streaming your favourite action flicks and sitcoms, NASA+ has one clear mission – deliver space content.

What you can watch on NASA+ will include informative and entertainment offerings. These will span across original video series, live event coverage, special panels and even exclusive interviews. Some names to look ward to at launch include “The Traveler”, “NASA Explorers” and “Other Worlds”. More verticals could be added in the future too.

Beyond streaming, NASA+ will also include access to a NASA’s practically unlimited archive of images, along with weekly podcasts, mission information and even sighting opportunities of the ISS (International Space Station).

How to access NASA+

On smartphones, NASA+ is available for both iOS and Android, and can be accessed from the NASA app, which is available on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. If you want to catch NASA+ content on the big screen, you can also access the service via Apple TV, Roku, and Fire TV.

How much will NASA+ cost?

One of the best parts about the subscription is that NASA+ is a completely free of cost, and free of ads platform, an approach we’d love more platforms to take up, as unrealistic as that sounds.

The service went live earlier this week, so interested users can head to the NASA app or a supported streaming service like Apple TV or Fire TV right away to check the platform out.
