Mobile World Congress 2024 (MWC 2024) has kicked off in Barcelona, and there are a host of brands that have taken the stage to announce a few new products. While MWC will go on for a few more days this week, we have already seen quite a few new announcements. Here’s a quick look at the best announcements at MWC 2024 so far.
Lenovo transparent concept laptop
If you thought transparent TVs at CES 2024 were peak technology we’d see this year, you were wrong. Just over a month later, we now have our first look at the first transparent laptop. The Lenovo ThinkBook Transparent Display Laptop Concept features the first 17.3-inch Micro LED transparent display on a laptop.
What’s even more magical is the transparent keyboard area on the bottom, which really makes you wonder where the internal components of this laptop are. Both panels also offer 1,000 nit brightness and also have a frame-less design. While still a concept, the Lenovo transparent laptop is perhaps a peek into the future of laptops.
HMD Barbie flip phone
HMD Global, the company behind the newer Nokia smartphones, is also spicing things up at MWC 2024 with a few of its own devices. This includes a collaboration with toy-maker Mattel for a flip phone themed after Barbie.
The Barbie flip phone, while confirmed, is yet to be officially revealed at the time of writing this blog. We should however, get a peek soon enough though. Besides the flip phone, HMD is also planning on bringing back another iconic Nokia design, possibly reimagined as a smartphone. However, this too is still under wraps.
Honor Magic 6 Pro
Flagships are not an uncommon sight at tech expos, but the Honor Magic 6 Pro promises more than just beefy specifications and a sleek design. The highlight of this device is actually its AI-powered eye-tracking capabilities.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 powered phone comes with a mechanism that lets users control certain aspects of the UI with nothing but their eyes. This includes the ability to open your notifications from the Magic Capsule tray by just looking at it. Devices like the Apple Vision Pro or the PS VR may have made eye-tracking popular first, but to have the implementation on a phone is just next level.
Avenir Telecom Hard P28K
A phone with a larger battery capacity than most power banks? French company Avenir Telecom hit that bullseye with an 18,000mAh phone/battery hybrid device four years ago. Now, the brand is back with a better phone, and a bigger battery.

Meet the Avenir Telecom Energiser Hard Case P28K, a rugged 4G phone with basic specifications, and bezels from 2010. Where the phone shines, however, is its ability to survive in the wild, where most smartphones may simply perish. The device has an IP69 water and dust resistance, 28,000mAh battery (the equivalent of over five OnePlus 12 units).
OnePlus Watch 2
OnePlus is not new to wearables, but after its first smartwatch ran only proprietary software, expectations for the second wearable were high. Thankfully, the brand delivered with the OnePlus Watch 2. Now running Wear OS, the OnePlus Watch 2 is better in many ways. It even comes with a dual-chipset architecture that and helps the watch reach up to 100 hours of battery life.
Samsung Galaxy Ring
While a few brands like Noise and BoAt have already ventured into the smart ring space, Samsung has now entered the space with its own ring, the Galaxy Ring. Armed with multiple health-related sensors and available in multiple sizes, the Galaxy Ring will be a great alternative to big, chunky smartwatches, and will also last longer on a single charge.
Those are some of the best announcements from MWC 2024 so far. Stay tuned for more updates including smartphones, laptops and more.
