Known for averting major catastrophes, the Impossible Mission Force (IMF) regroups for the last time. These IMF agents, including Ethan Hunt, go on one more adventure defying all odds to make sure the mission is accomplished.
Tom Cruise and Paramount Pictures took to their Instagram handles to release the poster and teaser trailer of the last installment of the Mission Impossible franchise titled, Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning.
The first glimpse of Mission Impossible 8 has fans (including us) feeling nostalgic and bittersweet. All we can do is eagerly wait for May 23 2025, to see the story unfold.
Mission Impossible 8 trailer: Cutting it close to the finish line
The teaser includes clips from the very first Mission: Impossible movie which was directed by Brian De Palma in 1996. It indicates where it all started for Hunt, a super spy that the world can always rely on. From back-to-back action sequences to Tom Cruise running to save the world, the teaser captures the essence of the Mission Impossible saga.
To recap, in Mission Impossible the Dead Reckoning, Hunt takes up a fight against a powerful AI called ‘the Entity.’ This advanced AI can be activated by a two-piece cruciform key.
However, the AI soon becomes sentient and goes rogue, infesting all of cyberspace. It deceives the crew into attacking a phantom target only to be struck by their own torpedo, killing all aboard. Since this leads to international tensions, the IMF must find the keys and the submarine to destroy the Entity.

The Mission Impossible franchise had its charm because they would use advance level technology to beat any and all obstacles that come their way. This time around the IMF is fighting technology in the form of Artificial Intelligence. It is important to note that this AI is so powerful that it is the only villain Hunt hasn’t been able to tackle in one standalone film.
With the Mission Impossible franchise nearing its epic conclusion, it looks like Hunt will face consequences for his refusal to let go of those he loves. This movie will feature Cruise diving into the depths to find the submarine and hanging from planes thereby risking it all to battle the Entity.
Familiar faces like Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Hayley Atwell and Vanessa Kirby reprise their roles, the team is joined by newcomers as well. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the final movie should deliver a high-intensity spectacle with intricate details making the mission worth the wait.
Until then, feel free to go through the other movies in the franchise that are available on Prime Video on your smartphones, laptops or TVs.
