Microsoft’s Bing Chat now comes to Chrome for desktop: How to use it

Bing Chat has been around for a good six months now. It has been giving steady, albeit limited competition to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard AI chatbot, owing to the fact it was officially supported only on Microsoft’s own Edge browser, and via a SwiftKey integration on Android and iOS devices. Although Vivaldi, another web browser does support Bing Chat, it does so only by changing its user agent strings to be identified as the Edge browser. No browsers officially supported the AI chatbot from the house of Microsoft. Until now that is.

Microsoft has now announced that Bing Chat supports Google Chrome, perhaps one of the most popular browsers out there.

How to use Bing Chat on Chrome

Bear in mind that as of now, Bing Chat is only supported for Chrome on Windows, Mac and Linux. Microsoft did mention that support for other browsers for desktop and mobile devices is also coming. However, no specific dates were mentioned for the same.

Here’s how you can access Bing Chat on Chrome –

1. On your desktop, ensure Chrome is updated to the latest version.

2. Open a fresh browser window and type in bing.com in the search window.

3. This should take you to directly to Bing Chat’s chat window wherein you key in your queries, the way you would on ChatGPT or Bard.

4. That’s it, you’re all set. Type in your queries and find the answers to all your questions.

What’s cool is that in the case of Bing Chat, the responses it generates also come with citations to tell you where the chatbot got the information from.

In addition to support for Chrome on desktops, Microsoft also recently announced that Bing Chat’s Enterprise version is now available on Edge on mobile devices. With added support for newer devices, Microsoft has been playing catch-up with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which was recently made available for Android and iOS devices, and had already been accessible on Chrome and Edge for desktop devices.
