Meta AI can now understand and reply in Hindi; gets new creative tools

Meta added its AI chatbot to multiple services a month ago, and it quickly gained popularity for doing more than just answering queries. The chatbot, which was integrated into Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger smartphone apps, can do everything from holding conversations to generating images.

However, when we used it, we found the app lacked regional language support. That said, in a recent post, Meta announced additional languages, creative tools and expansion to several other countries.

Meta AI rolls out new features: What's there to know?

Meta announced how the chatbot will gain an ‘Imagine Me‘ feature to help users see themselves in a new light. The feature typically requires a user to type in a prompt beginning with an “Imagine me as…” for Meta AI to generate an image based on their photo.

For the initial setup, Meta AI may require you to click a few pictures of yourself for accurate AI representation. Once this is done, you will be able to ask the chatbot to imagine you as an astronaut, or even royalty, if that’s what your heart desires.

Next, Meta has even added a bunch of editing tools to help you easily add, remove or modify objects in your pictures. Meta states how this works seamlessly for times you want to change your prompt once the image has been generated.

For instance, “Imagine a cat baking a cake”, where the word ‘cat’ can instantly be replaced with a ‘dog’ or a ‘bird’. If that’s not all, users will also be able to generate an image directly onto their Instagram feed or Facebook post.

Meta further mentions how it is bringing its ‘largest’ and ‘most advanced’ open-sourced model on WhatsApp, which will enable it to understand more complex math problems and codes.

“You can get help on your math homework with step-by-step explanations and feedback, write code faster with debugging support and optimisation suggestions, and master complex technical and scientific concepts with expert instruction,” Meta writes on its blog.

Lastly, users will be able to enjoy extended regional language support on the chatbot. Meta has now included French, German, Hindi, Hindi-Romanised Script, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish scripts in the AI chatbot and it further states how it is planning to bring in more.

When will the new features be available to everyone?

Meta has already begun rolling out these developments to a larger audience. However, if you don’t seem to have them yet, don’t worry. The company will be rolling them out in a phased manner and it may gradually reach other users in the course of a few weeks.

Apart from this, Meta AI will also be available in a few other countries beginning this month with its two-fold expansion. The move to introduce more regional languages and its expansion into newer regions is Meta’s way of making its chatbot more accessible to a lot more people.
