What’s great is that you can replace Google Search with ChatGPT Search in Chrome and Chromium-based browsers like Microsoft Edge. So, in this article, let’s see how you can make ChatGPT Search your default search engine on Chrome and Edge.
Replace Google with ChatGPT Search on Chrome
OpenAI has made an extension available for Google Chrome, allowing users to easily replace the Google Search engine with ChatGPT Search. Here’s how you can make ChatGPT Search your default search engine.
Step 1: Head to the OpenAI’s ChatGPT Search website
Step 2: Click on Download the Chrome Extension
Step 3: Tap on Add to Chrome
Step 4: Tap on Add Extension
Step 5: Once you add the extension, tap on the extension button next to the search bar and tap on Manage extensions
Step 6: Click on Details, then tap on the toggle next to Off and the default search engine in Chrome will be replaced with ChatGPT Search
That’s how you can make ChatGPT Search your default search engine in Google Chrome.
Replace Bing or Google with ChatGPT Search on Microsoft Edge
If you are using Microsoft Edge, which is a Chromium-based browser, you could be using Bing or Google as your default search engine. Although Microsoft does allow you to replace Bing or Google with another search engine, you will have to go through a lot of pop-ups. But don’t fret, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Open the following link in a new tab
Step 2: Tap on Get Extension at the top
Step 3: Tap Allow, followed by Add Extension
Step 4: Tap Turn on and the default browser in Edge should be ChatGPT Search
