Apple recently launched the M4 Pro-powered Mac mini and MacBook Pro in India, and early reviews highlighted the faster and improved performance of the machines. But there’s a way that these new Mac machines can offer even better performance, and that’s with the High Power Mode.
High Power Mode in macOS has been available for some time now, and it helps you squeeze out that extra bit of performance from your Mac machine. Having said that, let’s learn more about the High Power Mode and how you can turn it on your M4 Pro-powered Macs devices.
What is High Power Mode?
The High Power Mode is an option hidden in the Battery menu in macOS. Apple says that the High Mode allows the fans to run at higher speeds, resulting in a better performance. With the new MacBook Pro and Mac mini’s hardware, you can squeeze out more performance even in intense workloads, while keeping the system comparatively cooler.
For the unversed, when you buy a new Mac device, like the new M4 Pro-powered Mac mini and MacBook Pro, your device will be set to the Automatic Mode. Now, the Automatic Mode offers a balance of power and efficiency. But those who want more power can turn on the High Power Mode.
Note that there’s also a third option called Low Power Mode that prioritises saving the battery. This one is for those who want a better battery life, with the cost of losing out slight performance.
But overall, the High Power Mode is great for the latest 2024 Mac mini and MacBook Pros as the hardware, i.e., the M4 Pro chipset is capable of pushing out that extra performance.
