Linea is a cozy, visual treat with relaxing puzzles to help you de-stress

Everyone deserves a little mindfulness and relaxation to unwind from the constant stress of work and responsibilities. For people like me, turning to relaxing games is a super accessible solution, as I can simply enjoy a relaxing title anywhere as per my convenience. And what better way to de-stress than by playing a puzzle game on my smartphone while I’m stuck on a train?

Linea is one such game that transported me into a magical world with its beautiful art and easy gameplay, helping me relax at the end of the day, when the weekend was still a little too far away.

But just how did a game do that for me? Here’s what Linea is, and how it helped me calm my nerves after a heavy day of work.

What is Linea?

Linea is a portrait-oriented puzzle game, found on the Play Store as Linea: Cozy Puzzle Stories. It offers unique storylines that unfold as you move up the levels. The game combines immersive narratives with engaging puzzles really well.

The game’s calming music and mystical ambience give it a magical touch. To proceed with the journey, you just have to draw a line of light to help the characters in need reach their goals. As you move forward in the game, it unveils wholesome stories taking you through a range of emotions from joy and excitement to awe, love and loss.

The game is designed to be relaxing, best for casual play and winding down after a long day.

What did I think of the Linea game?

When I first opened the game, I was immediately greeted with beautiful visuals. And then the dialogue popped up prompting a story. Navigating the game wasn’t difficult at all with its gentle learning curve, something I greatly appreciated.

As someone who loves good storytelling, this game was a treat for me. Unique storylines with endearing characters with a set of goals and challenges of their own? This is exactly what pulled me in. I truly enjoyed engaging with beautifully illustrated scenes while solving various puzzles that tested my pattern recognition and problem-solving skills.

The game’s soothing soundtrack and hand-drawn art aesthetics made it feel dreamy, as I got immersed in its adventures. However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. A number of ads that I had to watch between levels was a grim reminder of the real world. Thankfully, this can be solved with a one-time fee – more on that later.

The game started with fairly easy puzzles before the challenging ones arose, giving me enough time to learn how it works. There was no pressure or time limit either, so I could take my time on a level if I got stuck somewhere. The game offers hints as well, (there’s a catch: You’ll have to watch ads to get to them).

After a while though, the game did get a bit repetitive without additional objectives or side quests. And while the stories and characters are engaging, the puzzles are simplistic. This might be a drawback if you’re a puzzle enthusiast.

How to get Linea

You can play Linea on your Android phones and iPhones. It is also available for PCs and MacBooks.

While the title is largely free, some levels are restricted behind a one-time fee (and a rather hefty one at that). This is also true for getting rid of ads, which will set you back Rs 420.

It is an easy game to pick up, so, if you’re someone looking for a quick, casual gaming session or enjoy simple puzzle games, you’d like this one. And if you’re someone like me, who enjoys well-written narratives in games, you should give Linea a try.
