Leica Sofort 2 is a hybrid instant camera that lets you choose which photos to print

Everyone loves a good instant camera. There is something about putting up a picture on your bedroom wall, or perhaps in an album, and marking it, that no amount of likes or comments on an Instagram post can match.

However, at the same time, instant cameras do have a few drawbacks, and big ones at that. One of them being, that each picture is printed by default. Even the ones you may not want. This, of course, leads to wastage of photo paper. Well, Leica is here to help, with its new Leica Sofort 2.

Leica Sofort 2 hydrid instant camera launched

Leica’s latest offering, the Sofort 2 camera, takes pictures using a CMOS 1/5 Zoll sensor, which also features an RGB colour filter. Effective image resolution stands at 2560 x 1920 pixels, or 4.9MP. In addition to the standard lens, the Leica Sofort 2 also features support for as many as 10 other lenses.

Users can view the pictures they’ve taken on a 3-inch TFT LCD display on the camera, and choose which ones to print. The same can be done by simply pulling a lever on the camera.

That isn’t all, though. Say you’ve taken a picture on your smartphone, or another Leica camera, and you want to print them as well. In that case, all you have to do is upload the pictures to Leica’s companion app, called FOTOS. You can access your FOTOS library on the Sofort 2 and print pictures from there too.

The Leica Sofort 2 features a 740mAh battery which is said to be good enough for approximately 100 instant prints on a full charge. It can be charged from zero to 100 per cent in approximately three hours when the camera is switched off, according to Leica.

What’s more, the hybrid instant camera also has a base-plate insert for tripods, and weighs approximately 320g, without the film pack in it.

Leica’s Sofort 2 will be available in three colours – black, white, and red, the last one being exclusively available on Leica’s website. The instant camera is priced at Rs 39,990 and can be purchased from Leica’s website, as well as all other partner retail outlets in India.
