For years, buying the affordable iPhone SE has meant sticking with a decade-old design, complete with a home button and thick, chunky bezels. However, for the past few months, rumours and leaks had been suggesting otherwise for the next iPhone SE, expected to launch with a more modern design.
Now, some newly surfaced CAD renders, spotted first by 91Mobiles, all but confirm these very rumours. The next Apple iPhone SE is not just set to get a visual overhaul, but also some additions that the entire iPhone 15 series doesn’t have.
iPhone SE 4: What to expect?
The iPhone SE 4 was expected to leave behind the old home button design in favour of the new all-screen, notched look. The new renders confirm this.

However, the report also suggests that the iPhone SE Gen 4 will adopt an action button instead of a mute switch. This is a major step towards solidifying the action button as the way forward for Apple’s smartphones because not even the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have the addition.
With the entire iPhone 16 series exected to do away with the iconic mute switch, adding the action button to the next iPhone SE will likely make the phone more future-proof.
Other expected festures of the iPhone SE 4 are not so surprising. Apple is still keeping a single camera on the back of the phone, which means the only way to get a multi-camera setup is to spend more to get one of Apple’s flagship phones.
The iPhone SE 4 is also expected to pack a larger 6.1-inch display now, which brings it more in line with the flagship iPhones. This is great because the small 4-invh screen of the current SE was starting to feel a little too small for modern times.
Other changes include an iPhone 13/14 sized notch on the front and an unsurprising switch to USB-C over the Lightning port.

There are still no official launch dates just yet, which means Apple may be saving the new iPhone SE for a spring launch alongside its iPad Pro series refresh.
Alternatively, we may also see the phone launch months later with the iPhone 16 series, which would mean we don’t get to see the phone before September this year. For now, all Apple fans can do is wait for the new iOS 17.4 update, which should land on supported devices any day now.
