The iPhone 16’s Camera Control is coming to Android, thanks to Realme

Apple’s newest standout feature, may soon be on Android phones after all

The iPhone 16’s Camera Control is coming to Android, thanks to Realme

Apple launched the iPhone 16 series last week and its headliner feature is Camera Control, a pressure-sensitive switch that toggles the camera, among other things. As expected, Android phone makers are now zeroing in on bringing the feature (or at least, a version of it) to Android.

We are talking about Realme here. The brand’s next phone may get a dedicated camera button to help users take photos in a more intriguing way.

As per a report by GSMArena, Chase Xu, Realme’s VP and CMO took to the Chinese micro-blogging platform Weibo to reveal the camera button on a Realme phone. The feature has no English name as of now, so we’re just going to call it the “camera button”. The button works exactly like Camera Control on the iPhone 16, which means it lets you zoom in and zoom out. Whether it will let you use other camera features remains to be seen.

iPhone 16 series Camera Control: What is it?

For the unversed, Apple’s Camera Control switch is a new capacitive touch key placed on the right side, just below the power button. The key produces the feel of a real button via haptics when pressed. It lets you zoom in or zoom out in the camera app, and will later this year, also let you control some other camera aspects.

The feature adds a convenient way of using your phone’s camera in landscape. Realme’s own version, however, appears to not be as smooth as Apple. But then again, this could also be because it’s a pre-production unit.

What phone Realme will bring the unnamed feature on is not yet known, but it may not be the next flagship in the Realme pipeline. Stay tuned to Unboxed by Croma for all the updates.
