Apple has just announced iOS 18.3 for iPhones and iPadOS 18.3 for its iPads. The new update is a small incremental addition to iOS 18 umbrella, and brings some changes, particularly around how Apple Intelligence features work.
Here’s everything you need to know about the update and how you can install it on your iPhone right away.
iOS 18.3: What’s new?
The new update brings additional capabilities to the Visual Intelligence feature, which is available on all iPhone 16 models, and works via the Camera Control switch. Users can now use Visual Intelligence to capture events from flyers and posters, to add them straight to the Calendar app.

The Notification Summaries feature, which has also received quite the backlash in recent weeks due to inaccuracies has also been disabled for news and entertainment apps to avoid misleading titles. Apple says that this is a temporary change.
Notification summaries in other apps are now italicised, which helps them look different from non-summarised notifications, letting users know what they’re reading is a summary or the actual message/notification.
Settings for Notification Summaries can also be managed directly from the Lock Screen now, which you can do by simply swiping on a notification and tapping on ‘Options’. From here, you can also disable notification summaries for a particular app.
There’s also a new neat trick with the Calculator app. You can now continue pressing the = sign after an operation to repeat the same operation several times. For instance, if you do 1000 + 10 to get 1010, you can press the = button once more to quickly get 1020, followed by 1030 and so on.
Lastly, Apple has also fixed some bugs with the new update. An issue where users would see the keyboard disappearing when initiating a typed conversation with Siri has been fixed. An issue with Apple Music where songs would continue to play even after closing Apple Music has also been fixed.
How to download and install iOS 18.3
Downloading the new update is as easy as ever. Simply open the Settings app on your iPhone and head over to General > Software Update and you should see the card for the new 18.3 update. Simply follow on-screen instructions from there, and after a restart, your phone will be running iOS 18.3.
