Intel has been on a roll lately, having unveiled several new chipsets lately, including its much-awaited Intel Core Ultra processors. Well, it seems to be showing no signs of slowing down and has just unveiled its latest 14th-generation processors for laptops and desktops, as well as the HX-series mobile processors aimed at gamers and content creators. That’s not all. It also announced its Intel Core U Processor Series 1 family, for thin and light notebooks. Here’s everything you need to know about these chips.
Intel 14th-Gen HX series processors: Features and key specifications
The HX series of processors is led by the top-of-the line Core i9-14900HX, which is Intel’s most powerful chipset yet. It features eight performance cores and 16 efficiency cores. Next comes the Core i7-14700HX, which features 20 cores in total. What’s cool is, the HX series of processor features support for up to 192GB of DDR5 memory, Thunderbolt 5 and 4 connections, as well as Wi-Fi 6E. That’s not all. They also feature discrete hardware for the new Wi-Fi 7 standard. On offer is also support for Bluetooth 5.3 and 5.4 connectivity. Intel claims that the new HX series of processors feature up to 5.8Ghz of turbo frequency, which guarantees 17 per cent better gaming performance and 51 per cent faster multi-tasking over its competitors.

Coming to their new 18 new 14th-Gen mainstream desktop processors, they run at 65W and 35W power levels. These can also run at up to a 5.8 GHz turbo frequency. The company claims that they offer up to 37 per cent faster multi-thread performance and up to 7 per cent better performance with Microsoft Office, when compared to the prior 13th-Gen processors. The flagship processor in the series, the Intel Core i9-14900 features 24 cores (eight performance and 16 efficiency cores), while the Core i7-14700 features 20 cores (eight performance and 12 efficiency cores). These desktop chipsets feature support for PCIe Gen 5.0, Gen 4.0, and Thunderbolt 4, as well as USB 3.2.
Intel Core U Processor Series 1: Features and key specifications
Now, let’s take a look at the Intel Core mobile processor Series 1 family. The Core U mobile processor series is led by the Intel Core 7 processor 150U, which packs 10 cores and 12 threads, and up to a 5.4GHz turbo frequency. Aimed at thin-and-light notebook devices, the Series 1 processors support up to 96 GB of total DDR5 as well as DDR4 memory, Thunderbolt 4, eight PCIe Gen 4.0 and 12 PCIe Gen 3.0 lanes for SSD storage, Bluetooth 5.4 and 5.3, Wi-Fi 7 as well as Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.
Intel says that its full line-up of 14th-generation Intel Core processors is now available online and in retail stores. The first devices to be powered by the Core U Processor Series 1 though, are expected to hit the shelves sometime in the first quarter of this year. Exactly when, remains unknown as of yet.
