Making Instagram Reels is now easier: How to use Template Browser

Instagram made its focus on short-format video clear years ago with Reels. Since then, numerous features have been added to make video-creation easier than ever. The latest of these is called Template Browser, a feature that lets creators big and small replicate everything from a video they like to the latest viral trends and make it their own in minutes.

Instagram users can now browse through many such templates while making a Reel. They can even grab a specific one from a Reel they are watching, and elements like the audio, number of smaller clips and any AR effects along with duration of each of these clips will all be copied over to your new Reel. This leaves users with the simple task of filling in the template with their own clips and viola! A new Reel is ready.

“We’re making it easy for you to find inspiration for your next reel, starting with a new and improved Template Browser. Now, you can browse templates by category in the Template Browser, organised by Recommended, Trending, and templates or audio you’ve saved,” Instagram announced via an official blog post.

How to use Instagram Template Browser

To create new Reels easily using the Template Browser, open Instagram and tap on the ‘Create’ button. Tap on ‘Reel’ to make a new Reel. You should see a shortcut to your camera gallery on the bottom-left; tap on it. Next, find the ‘Templates’ button and click on it. You can now browse through Instagram’s catalogue of Reel templates and pick one you like.

Instagram users can also pick a template directly from a Reel they find interesting. To do this, find the ‘Use Template’ button on any Reel and tap on it. Proceed by adding your own elements to the template to create your own Reel.

In addition to just filling in the blanks, users also have the ability to tweak the template to their liking. One can change the template order, increase or decrease the size of each blank template, and more.
