After ignoring it for years, Meta may finally consider making an Instagram app for the iPad. The official Instagram app for iPads will let users scroll reels on a comparatively larger screen.
As of right now, the Instagram experience on iPads isn’t very convenient, considering users simply get a larger version of the iPhone app. However, with a dedicated app for iPads, users may get an experience suitable for large screens. Here’s everything you need to know.
All about Instagram’s iPad availability
According to a report from The Information, Meta is working on an Instagram app for iPads. Notably, Meta has been delaying the app’s launch for a while. Back in 2022, Instagram boss Adam Mosseri said “It’s still just not a big enough group of people to be a priority,” hinting that there are a limited number of users who may want to use Instagram on iPad.
Following this, in 2023, Mosseri stated “Not working on it right now,” revealing that there are no plans for a dedicated Instagram app for iPads. Now, however, the company could finally be planning to release a dedicated Instagram app suitable for larger devices, like iPads.
It’s unclear how different the iPad app will be compared to the iPhone app. But we expect it to offer a more convenient user interface so that it makes use of the larger screen of iPads.

Unfortunately, Instagram hasn’t confirmed the app’s iPad availability yet. Having said that, we’ll have to wait until Instagram officially announces the iPad app, along with its release timeline.
Until then, iPad users will have to rely on the desktop version of Instagram. If you are an iPad user, do let us know if you’d use Instagram more on your iPad. And, for more news on Instagram, stay tuned to Unboxed by Croma.
