Newer iPhones are getting much better at gaming, thanks to some powerful hardware at the core of these devices, as well as a lot of software optimisations that you run console-level AAA titles right away on a phone. However, the controls for most of these games are still touch-based, allowing you to quickly pull out your iPhone pretty much anywhere and start playing.
While this is great when you’re taking the metro home, when you’re serious about completing that single-player campaign at home, you may want a better control experience. Well, turns out iPhones and many newer AAA games support the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller.
What that means is, if you happen to have a PS5 or simply a standalone DualSense controller lying around, you can now use it with your iPhone as well. It’s also much simpler than you think. Here’s how to do it.
How to use a Sony DualSense controller with your iPhone
To use a PS5 DualSense controller with your iPhone, you must first pair the two devices. Thankfully, there are no workarounds required here, and the pairing is a very straightforward process.
Step 1: Take your DualSense controller and long-press the PlayStation logo button and the create button together. The light should now begin blinking rapidly, and your controller is now in pairing mode.
Step 2: Head to the Bluetooth menu on your iPhone by going to Settings > Bluetooth. You should now see a listing called “DualSense Wireless Controller”. Tap on it to pair the controller.
Your DualSense Controller is now paired with your iPhone and can be directly used with supported games without requiring any third-party app. Some games that support the DualSense controller include GTA San Andreas: Definitive Edition, Genshin Impact, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Death Stranding Director’s Cut and Grand Mountain Adventure, among others.
