Recently, WhatsApp had launched Chat Filters which provided easy access to your important contacts and find messages faster. Expanding on this functionality, WhatsApp has now introduced Lists.
This new feature will allow individuals to organise their chats and differentiate among their contacts. This can provide a way to add important conversations in separate categories thereby making it easier to organise conversations. With the Lists feature, WhatsApp users can filter their chats with custom categories of their choice for example personal, professional, friends, etc.
How to add custom filters on WhatsApp
While the existing preferences remain intact, users can add new lists on WhatsApp. A custom list can be added by tapping on the ‘+’ icon in the filter bar.

This feature allows users to add any custom names to the lists such as family, friends, business acquaintances, neighbours and so on without notifying the person on the other end.
These Lists can be edited as well. By long pressing on that particular list in the filter bar, users can add or remove contacts from the list. Users can create up to 20 custom lists which can be customised by adding both groups and individual chats in respective Lists. All Lists created will appear in the filter bar to make it easier to look for them.
The new feature will can be helpful for those who manage their business or work via WhatsApp. This feature can segregate personal and professional lives of users within the same app on your smartphone.
The Meta owned messaging platform claims that the custom Lists have been rolled out. However, it will be available to all users in the coming weeks. This feature can help users focus on the people and conversations that matter the most.
