December is an exciting month for users of music streaming apps. But if you’re an Apple Music loyalist, the year-end Replay isn’t the only highlight for you this month. With the iOS 17.1 and iOS 17.2 update, Apple Music now has a simpler way to have all your favourite songs in one place. So, bid adieu to the pressure that comes with scrambling for songs in the passenger seat. Here’s how to use this feature:

Before you do so, ensure your iPhone or iPad is up to date with the latest iOS/iPadOS 17.2 version. Without this, you may not be able to access these features on the app. Once through, here’s how to go about next:

Step 1: On your Apple Music app, select the song you wish to play

Step 2: You can either touch and hold the song for more options or tap on the three-dot menu on the side

Step 3: You will find the Favourite option; tap on it to add the song to your library

Step 4: Alternatively, you can also tap on the star icon that will be visible on your Now Playing screen

Step 5: Once the icon is highlighted, you can be sure that the song has been added to your Favourites tab

On favouriting, you will be able to locate all these tracks in a playlist on the app. Here’s how to find them:

Step 1: On the menu at the bottom of your app, select the Library option
Step 2: Further, tap on Playlists mentioned at the top of your page
Step 3: On expanding, scroll the list to find the Favourite Songs playlist (which can be identified with a star icon)

Once you’re through with these steps, locating your favourite songs will be a matter of steps. In fact, you can even mark a playlist that you like as ‘favourite’ and find it in the same tab as your songs. All you have to do is select Album instead of Playlist and tap on the three-dot menu that filters it to show only your favourite playlists.

While a lot of users were disappointed as the Apple Music equivalent of Collaborative Playlists was not introduced with this update, Apple has certainly hinted that other exciting features are currently underway for those anticipating them.
