How to use StandBy Mode on iPhone

iOS 17 introduced an exclusive feature that allowed your iPhone to stay active even when charging. If you have ever come across an iPhone in StandBy Mode, you know exactly what we are talking about. This feature is a game changer wherein the iPhone enters a low-power state yet remains alert.

From getting call notifications and enjoying widgets to making your phone a bedside clock, there’s a lot that this unique feature can do. So, let’s take you through how you can use StandBy Mode on your iPhone.

What are some things you can do with the StandBy Mode?

Below are some of the things that you can do by keeping your iPhone on StandBy Mode.

1. Access widgets: When your phone is locked, you can change the lock screen to access widgets like photos, calendar, and more.

2. Bedside clock: The StandBy Mode will appear with a red tint in low ambient lighting so that it doesn’t distract you while sleeping.

3. Calls and messages: While your phone is charging, you can still respond to the calls or messages without completely waking up the device.

4. Downloads: While your iPhone is at StandBy, your downloads won’t. And app updates or large file downloads can still continue in the background without interruption.

Steps on how to use StandBy Mode on iPhone

Your smartphone will enter StandBy Mode automatically; however, to set it up, follow the steps below. 

Step 1: Unlock your iPhone and go to the settings. 

Step 2: In Settings, you will find a StandBy feature option. 

Step 3: Tap on it and slide the toggle towards the right to use the feature. 

Step 4: Below that, you will also find a Night Mode, Show Notifications, and Show Preview on Tap Only options. 

Step 5: Activate the toggles as per your preferences. 

Step 6: Once done, connect your iPhone to the charger and place it horizontally on the stand. 

Step 7: Your iPhone will enter the StandBy mode, and the screen with clearer and larger visuals will appear.

These are the steps to activate the StandBy Mode, which will help you make the most of your iPhone even while it’s charging.
