Introduced in 2018, Memojis are customisable avatars available on Apple devices. You can personalise the custom avatar to resemble yourself, as well as use it as stickers or animated characters in apps such as FaceTime and Messages.
Memojis are available for devices running on iOS 13 or iPadOS 13 and above. Only Apple devices equipped with a TrueDepth front-facing camera will be able to use Memojis. In other words, Memojis will work on iPhone X or newer, as well as iPad Pro (11-inch and 12.9-inch) or later.
How to create a Memoji
Here are the steps on how to create a Memoji:

1. Open the Messages app and tap on “Compose” to create a new message.
2. Tap on the Memoji button, which has a monkey face icon.
3. Tap on the “+” button to create a new Memoji.
4. Customise your Memoji, by selecting features, such as Skin tone, Hairstyle and colour, Brows, nose, and lip shapes, Glasses, hardware, and piercings, and more.
5. Tap “Done” when you are satisfied with all the customisations.
How to edit or delete a Memoji:
1. Open the Messages app, tap the conversation thread, and then tap Memoji.
2. Find the Memoji you want to edit or delete.
3. Tap on the (…) three-button icon and choose “Edit,” “Duplicate,” or “Delete.”
Using a Memoji as a sticker:
1. Launch the Messages app and tap on the Memoji button.
2. Tap the Stickers bubble, and you will see your Memoji in various poses.
3. Choose a relevant sicker and send it. Alternatively, you can add a message to go along with a sticker.
4. Tap on the blue coloured Send button to send it.
5. Since a Memoji automatically turns into a sticker, you can also use it with other apps like Mail or a third-party messaging app.
Using a Memoji as an animated character (Animoji):
Animoji is an animated character that can mimic your facial expressions and voice.

1. Launch the Messages app and open a conversation.
2. Tap on Memoji and select your Memoji.
3. Hit the red-colored Record button and place your face in front of the selfie camera. Start speaking and acting on your experience.
4. Once done, hit the record button again to stop it.
5. To send it, tap the blue-coloured Send button.
Readers should note that there is a set limit of 30 seconds to record an Animoji after which it stops recording automatically.
Using a Memoji in FaceTime:
Here’s how to use Memoji in FaceTime:
1. Open FaceTime and initiate a call.
2. Tap on the Effects button (looks like a star) during a call and choose your Memoji.
3. Your Memoji will replace your face during the FaceTime call. It will mirror your expressions.
Using a Memoji as a contact image
Here are the steps to use a Memoji as a contact image:
1. Open the Contacts app and choose a contact.
2. Tap “Edit” and then tap on “Add Photo” or “Edit.”
3. Select “Memoji” to browse through your existing Memojis. Alternatively, you can tap the “+” button to create a new Memoji for this contact.
4. To change Memoji’s expression or background, tap “Pose” or “Style.”
5. You can pinch to zoom or drag to adjust the position of the Memoji within the round frame.
6. If you are satisfied with the look, tap “Choose” and then click “Done” to save changes.
Using a Memoji as a wallpaper
Here are the steps to use a Memoji as a wallpaper:

1. Go to Settings > Wallpaper > Choose a New Wallpaper.
2. Select the desired Memoji and adjust its position according to your preference.
3. Tap “Set” and choose “Set Lock Screen,” “Set Home Screen,” or “Set Both.”
