This hidden AirPods feature can help you sneakily eavesdrop on someone

How to use Live Listen with Apple AirPods

Live Listen is a handy Apple AirPods feature that allows you to listen to sounds around an iPhone remotely. All you need to do is place your iPhone near the object or person you want to monitor. You can then move away and get an audio feed into the connected AirPods.

You can use this feature for monitoring babies from an adjacent room, or other similar use-cases. Does that sound useful? Here’s how you can use Live Listen with Apple AirPods.

How to use Live Listen with Apple AirPods

To use Live Listen seamlessly, you need to add a shortcut on a connected iPhone’s Control Centre first. To do that, head over to Settings, and tap on Control Center. Scroll down, and you will find a plus icon (+) next to the Hearing option. Tap on it, and the option will get added to the Included controls section.

Now, turn on your Bluetooth, connect a pair of AirPods to your iPhone and you’re ready to use the feature. Open the Control Centre on your iPhone and tap on the newly added ‘Hearing’ button. Select the Live Listen option and simply place your iPhone close to the subject you want to listen to.  You should now be able to hear a live feed on your AirPods.

On paper, this feature also works with Apple’s wired EarPods. But it makes little sense as you will be limited to the length of the wire. The wireless AirPods, on the other hand, will allow you to move further away to adjacent rooms.
