How to use iMessage on a Windows laptop

If you are an iPhone user with a Windows PC, we have some news for you. In April last year, Microsoft officially rolled out iPhone compatibility with Windows 11 through the Phone Link app. This means once you setup the app to work with your iPhone, you can use iMessage on your Windows 11 laptop or desktop. That’s not all, you can also see and manage your phone’s alerts and notifications without accessing your phone.

Wondering how to use iMessage on Windows laptop using the Phone Link app? Let’s find out.

Prerequisites of using iMessage on Windows

Before you start using Phone Link to connect your iPhone to your Windows laptop or desktop, you will need a few prerequisites. For starters, your iPhone needs to be running iOS 14 or later. If you have an old iPhone that is not yet on iOS 14.

You will also need the latest version of Windows 11. Ensure Bluetooth is working fine on your phone, and then download the latest version of the Windows Link app on your laptop.  

How to use iMessage on Windows laptop

Download the Link to Windows app from the App Store on your iPhone. Besides, search for the Phone Link app in the Windows search bar and select the corresponding result to install it. Here’s the link to the Phone Link app for Windows if you are unable to find it manually.

After installing the app on your laptop, select the iPhone prompt on your launch screen. Click on the Action Center option at the bottom to turn your Bluetooth on, follow the on-screen prompts and grant the required permission requests to finish pairing your iPhone with Windows via Bluetooth.

Once the setup is complete, your iPhone will be mirrored within the Phone Link app on your laptop screen. It will allow you to manage calls, iMessage and navigate contacts seamlessly.

With these simple steps, use iMessage on your Windows laptop and enjoy the seamless sending and receiving of texts without looking at your phone.
