How to use AI editing tools on Google Photos

Google Photos is constantly upgrading with new features, and a lot of them have also brought it closer to popular social media platforms today. Only recently, the brand also announced how it will be bringing in its powerful photo editing tools to all Android and iOS users for free.

The tools, which were initially limited to Pixel phones, also required a Google One subscription. However, that will now change with the brand bringing them to all devices without an additional cost. Here’s what you should know:

Google Photos AI tools: What's there to know?

Google Photos has a bunch of artificial intelligence-driven tools that are designed to editing simpler on the smartphone or desktop app. Check out what these tools are and how they work:

Magic Eraser: Google has included a Magic Eraser that can wipe out unwanted objects from your photos. So, the next time you’re tired of people photo-bombing your vacation photos, you can simply use the AI Eraser to delete the elements you don’t want with ease.

Magic Editor: This tool uses AI to move certain objects or elements within your photo. If you want to move a tree out of your landscape but still want it to exist in your final photo, Magic Editor can do this for you with minimal effort.

Photo Unblur: Google has also included a Photo Unblur tool which can sharpen your images and attempt to unblur the final output of your picture. This is especially helpful for fuzzy or slightly shaken images that can be fixed with a little bit of sharpening.

How to use AI tools on Google Photos

The AI tools can be found on the Google Photos smartphone app. Once you navigate to it, these are some of the steps you can follow:

Step 1: Within your app, select the photo you wish to edit
Step 2: On your selected photo, tap on the Edit option on the image
Step 3: Once you do, you will find plenty of sub-options below, including Crop, Tools, Adjust etc. Go ahead and tap on Tools
Step 4: The option will expand into three AI tools that you can use to edit your photos in a snap

Apart from these, you also have the option of choosing an AI-powered suggestion that can tweak the colours and exposure in your photos. Google seems to be bringing in other improvements to these tools over time. But if you still haven’t received it, you might just have to wait as the company seems to be rolling them out in a phased manner.
