How to upgrade your AirPods Pro Gen-2 case to USB Type-C

It was a big year for Apple loyalists the world over, as the company finally made the move to USB Type-C ports from its traditional lightning ports, for its iPhone 15 series, as well as AirPods Pro Gen-2.

Now, while the iPhone 15 series is entirely new, the AirPods Pro Gen-2 have been around for a while. Over a year, in fact- having been released in September 2022. However, they were initially available only with a lightning port. Now though, say you already have a pair, but are looking to make the switch to USB Type-C charging for them too, bearing in mind how most other products in the Apple ecosystem now support the same.

Doesn’t entirely make sense to pick up a new pair, right? Well, to help with just that, Apple now offers the AirPods Pro Gen-2’s case with a USB Type-C port as a standalone purchase on its website. That’s right! You can now pick up a new case for your existing AirPods Pro Gen-2.

The only advantage that comes with the same is not just fewer cables. The USB Type-C AirPods Pro Gen-2 (both the earbuds as well as the case) come with an IP54 water and dust resistance rating. What’s more, the new model also continues to support MagSafe charging, same as the one with the lightning port.

The only downside is, if you’re using the original AirPods Pro Gen-2 with the USB Type-C charging case, they cannot provide lossless audio wirelessly when used with the upcoming Apple Vision Pro headset. However, with either model, you can still enjoy features such as Adaptive Audio as well as Conversation Detection.

Apple’s USB Type-C charging case for the AirPods Pro Gen-2 is available on the Apple India website as a standalone purchase and is priced at Rs. 9,900. Also, it even comes with a USB Type-C charging cable included in the box.
