How to take a screenshot on a laptop
Whether you’re using a Windows or Mac, taking a screenshot is a matter of simple steps. Some better-known methods are mentioned below.
For Windows users
1. By pressing the Print Screen key, you can take a screenshot. Similarly, CTRL + Print Screen shortcut can also be used to take a screenshot.
2. Alternatively, with the Win key and Print Screen, you can take a screen grab of your display.
3. Yet another way is using the keyboard shortcut Windows + Shift + S.
4. Using the game bar, take a screenshot of the page.
For MacBook users
Follow these instructions to take a screenshot on your MacBook:
1. To capture a snapshot of the whole screen, press Shift + Command + 3 on your keyboard at the same time.
2. The top right-hand corner of your screen will display a confirmation that a screenshot was captured, along with a thumbnail of the snapshot.
3. You can even edit this screenshot by clicking on the preview. However, you will need to wait for the screenshot to be saved if it isn’t.
To capture a portion of the display:
1. Hold down Shift, Command, and 4 keys all at once.
2. The crosshair will show up. To select a portion of the screen to capture, drag the crosshair.
3. Press and hold the Space Bar while dragging to move the selection. Pressing the Esc (Escape) key will stop the screenshot from being taken.
4. Tap the thumbnail to change the screenshot if it appears in the corner of your screen. Alternatively, wait until the screenshot is saved to your desktop.
On a laptop, taking screenshots is convenient and easy. The various keys let you easily record the full screen or specific parts, depending on the command. This functionality is useful for many things, such as troubleshooting, sharing graphics with others, and documenting information.
