A mark of a good night out is the bombardment of photos and videos on the group chat the following day. Whether you’re the poser or the shutterbug, you probably want to keep those digital memories intact for a long time.
However, if you don’t want to go through the hassle of sending each other compressed photos on WhatsApp (and are too lazy to make a drive link), there’s always an option to send HD photos to your friend circle. Read on to find out how to do it.
Steps to send HD photos on WhatsApp
WhatsApp only recently made HD photo sharing available to its users. Earlier, the platform would typically compress larger image files and only allow videos of a certain length to be sent across to contacts. However, now, users have the option to send their favourite photos across without compromising on the quality.
Step 1: Open WhatsApp app on your phone; select the contact you want to send the photo to
Step 2: Click on the paperclip icon (for Android) or + (for iOS) on the chat bar, and further select images
Step 3: Select one, or multiple photos, and hit send
Step 4: Once you do, you will find an ‘HD’ icon on the top of the image, right next to the crop or rotate icons
Step 5: Select it, and once it is highlighted, your images are ready to be sent as HD

By default, WhatsApp will send standard-quality images to your contacts. However, this will tamper with the resolution and considerably compress a file. That said, it is crucial to note that any media sent to you will now be counted within the Google Drive storage, as per WhatsApp’s new storage policy.
