Apple’s iPads are highly popular amongst all age groups, genders, and professionals, irrespective of their industry. They serve the need for a bigger screen, for an immersive content viewing experience, and the flexibility to carry them anywhere. However, like with many consumer electronics, even seasoned users tend to sometimes miss out on knowing basic functions. One such often overlooked function is restarting the device. If you’re wondering how to restart an iPad, worry not. Like with all your other tech issues, we have a small guide for you.

How to restart an iPad?

The easiest and most straightforward way to restart an iPad is to use the power button. It is the one that lets you turn your screen on and off. Depending on the model, it may be located on either the top or side of the device.

On iPads without a home button

1. You can press and hold the power button/top button and either of the volume buttons.

2. A slider to power off will appear on the screen.

3. Slide and wait for a bit to let it turn off.

4. To turn it back on, press and hold the power button/top button.

On iPads with a home button

1. Press and hold the power button.

2. A slider will appear on the screen with a confirmation message saying “slide to power off”.

3. Now, simply slide the button to the right to confirm and turn the device off.

4. To turn the device back on, you can press and hold the same single power button you used for turning it off.

How to restart an iPad without the use of physical buttons?

It is not entirely impossible, there are certain features in your iPad if used in the right way, you can restart your iPad without using any physical buttons. This will come in handy particularly when your power button is not working.

1. Open the Settings app on your iPad.

2. Scroll down till you find Accessibility. Tap on it.

A new screen will appear, scroll down and select “AssistiveTouch”.

4. Now, turn on the AssistiveTouch toggle switch.

5. The AssistiveTouch button will appear on the screen, tap on it.

6. Now, tap on “Device”

7. Tap on “More”.

8. Finally, tap on “Restart”.
