How to remotely uninstall Android apps from a secondary device

One of the newest updates of the Google Play Store enabled a feature that users with multiple devices have wanted for years, and that is the ability to remotely uninstall apps from another device. While one could always remotely install Android apps on smartphones from another phone logged in with the same Google Account, remotely uninstalling an app was not possible.

Thankfully, The Google Play Store version 38.8 now brings this to the table, and the best part is that it works on all platforms including smartphones, tablets and more.

Note that the feature has still not rolled out to all Android users just yet, so if you do not have the ability yet on your Android phone, tablet or other device, you probably haven’t received the right update yet, and may need to wait some more. For those who do have the new version of the Play Store installed, here’s how to use the feature.

How to remotely uninstall apps from your Android phone

If you have the feature, you can navigate to the Play Store and tap on your profile icon on the top-right. Choose ‘Manage apps and device’. Under the ‘Manage’ section here, you should see a list of all the installed apps across devices.

You can now tap on any app that you want uninstalled and on the very next screen, you will see a pop-up from the bottom with a list of devices that have your Google Account logged in. This can be other smartphones, your TV, your tablet, or any other Android device.

Choose the specific device you want the app uninstalled from and hit ‘Uninstall’ on the next page to confirm the uninstallation.

The feature will help users have better control over secondary devices they own, right from their primary device, as well as come in handy when you accidentally lose a phone and want to remove sensitive apps for better privacy.
