Smart TVs are much more productive than regular TV screens, acting as a gateway to some of our favourite apps for streaming music and movies. But did you know, you could also use your smart TV to enjoy some casual or competitive gaming as well? When your phone or laptop screen isn’t big enough, there are multiple ways to take your gaming session to the big screen. Read on to find out.
Enjoying Play Store games
If your Smart TV runs Android or supports downloading apps from the Google Play Store, you can use your TV to natively install and run many casual games that are available for TVs. Titles like Asphalt 8: Airborne, Crossy Road, and Into the Dead among many others are optimised to run on your TV, using your remote as a controller.

Some of these games may also support controller input, so if you have a USB-powered gamepad lying around, try plugging it in your TV’s USB ports to get an even better gaming experience.
Connecting your console
When casual Play Store games aren’t enough, you may want to dial things up a notch. This is where gaming consoles come in. Get a gaming console like the Xbox Series X or the Sony PlayStation 5 and enjoy a full-fledged gaming experience on your TV.

The library of console games is much larger and varied so that there’s little chance of you getting bored anytime soon. You also get to use the perks of next-gen gaming controllers and enjoy multiplayer gameplay for titles like FIFA 2023.
Mirroring your gaming laptop/desktop
PC gaming more your thing? No worries! Your TV can also be used to mirror your gaming laptop or desktop. All you need is a HDMI cable, and you can use Windows’ built-in screen-mirroring options to duplicate (or switch) your content to your TV screen.
If your TV is capable of higher refresh-rates or feature like a game-mode, you can use these to get better framerates and visuals on your games.
