Want to hide some of your Steam games? Here’s how you can do that

How to hide your Steam games from your friends

Valve’s Steam, one of the popular digital game distribution services, is known for its social features, which is great if you’ve a group of like-minded gaming friends, all of whom enjoy similar games and genres. That’s because all your Steam friends can see what games you buy and play. Not everyone likes sharing their entire game library. Fortunately, the service’s latest update now lets you fix this.

A new update for Steam beta lets testers hide select games from their friends by marking them as ‘private’. Games marked private will be available in your library, but will not show up when a friend visits your profile and checks out your list of games.

How to mark games as private on Steam

Steam beta users can mark a game as private in three ways. The first is from your shopping cart. From where you can directly mark a game as private right after you buy it. The second is from the Steam desktop client on desktops and laptops. The third is from a browser window from other devices like smartphones.

Other features the beta also comes with includes the ability to add game-gifts for multiple friends at once in your cart, as well as a unified shopping cart for all your devices.

Remember that the ability to mark games as private as well as the two other above-mentioned features are all available for Steam users on the beta channel. If you use the stable version of Steam like most people, you may still have to wait a while before the feature becomes available to you.

In other news, the Steam December Sale begins later today, and may bring some big discounts to some of your favourite titles. If you’re looking forward to buy some new games this holiday season, we suggest keeping an eye out on Steam for some good deals.
