There are many reasons to buy Apple’s AirPods. Good audio, great design, and excellent features in the Apple ecosystem. But did you know, you can also get free Apple Music access with most new Apple AirPods earbuds and headphones. Interested? Here’s how to get started.
Step 1: Update your iPhone
Go to your iPhone or iPad settings and head into the system settings to make sure you’re running on the latest iOS version. If you’re running the stable channel software, this will be iOS 16 or iPadOS 16. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check if you’re on the latest version.
Step 2: Connect your new audio device
After you’ve ensured your phone or tablet is running on the latest software, connect your new AirPods earbuds or headphones to this device. If your audio device is connected already, skip this step.
Head to Settings > Bluetooth, then turn on Bluetooth. Open your AirPods case and hold the case next to your iPhone/iPad without taking the earbuds out. Follow on-screen instructions to complete the pairing.
Step 3: Open Apple Music
Open Apple Music on your iPhone or iPad once your new device is connected, and you should see a pop-up offering you six months of free Apple Music right away. Find the ‘Tap to get six months free’ button and tap on it to proceed.
If you don’t see the free Apple Music pop-up right away, head over to the Listen Now tab and you should see the card for the same over there. Proceed by tapping on the card and you should have free Apple Music for the next 6 months.

That’s it, you can now enjoy Apple Music for free for the next six months. Note that this free period is also available with select Beats products. Once your six months of free Apple Music have expired, you can choose from the list of plans Apple Music provides in India. These start at Rs 99 per month.
Which products can you get a free subscription with?
You can get a free Apple Music subscription for six months with the following AirPods and Beats products. These include AirPods Pro, AirPods (2nd generation and 3rd generation), AirPods Max, HomePod, and the HomePod mini.
In case you’re in the market for a Beats product, the eligible list of products include the Beats Fit Pro, Beats Studio Buds, Powerbeats, Powerbeats Pro, Beats Solo Pro, Beats Studio Buds+, and the Beats Studio Pro.
