Here’s everything you need to know to get started with Vi’s 5G network on your phone

A step-by-step guide to enabling 5G on your Vi SIM card

Getting 5G up and running on your Vi SIM is actually quite straightforward. We have a list of steps that you need to follow to make a few quick changes in your phone’s network settings and start enjoying those faster speeds.

For Android smartphones:

Step 1: Open your phone’s Settings app

Step 2: Scroll down and tap on Network & internet or Mobile Networks (different phones may have slightly different wording)

Step 3: If you have multiple SIM cards installed, select your Vi SIM card

Step 4: Look for Preferred network type or Network mode in the menu options

Step 5: Tap and select 5G (preferred) or simply 5G from the available options

Step 6: Restart your phone if prompted (some devices need a quick reboot to apply network changes)

For iPhones:

Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone‘s home screen

Step 2: Scroll down and tap on Cellular” or Mobile Data

Step 3: Select Cellular Data Options from the menu

Step 5: Choose either 5G Auto or 5G On from the available options

Step 6: Check your status bar for the 5G icon to confirm you’re connected (when in a coverage area)

Before you dive into settings menus, it’s always a good idea to make sure your phone actually supports 5G technology. The good news is that most smartphones released in the last couple of years – from budget to premium models – come with 5G capability built-in.
