AI-created images are all the rage right now on the web, being used in everything from educational videos to hilarious memes on social media. However, the accessibility of AI-based image-creation tools remain cumbersome, unlike ChatGPT app, which is now live for Android and iOS systems. That changes with Microsoft’s latest update for SwiftKey.

With integrated Bing chat AI, Microsoft’s SwiftKey keyboard app now also gains the powers of image creation via DALL-E 3, bringing AI image creation right to your fingertips. Instead of visiting a separate page or app, SwiftKey users can now directly create images on command straight from their keyboard and send the same on apps like WhatsApp.

It may sound complicated, but you can get the whole thing set up in under two minutes, a rather small investment for having the power of instant AI image creation right on your smartphone. Here’s how to get started.

Step 1: Download Microsoft SwiftKey

On any Android smartphone, head to the Google Play Store and download the Microsoft SwiftKey app. Install and set up the keyboard app using on-screen instructions, that may also require you to replace your existing keyboard as your default keyboard application. If you already use SwiftKey, ignore this step.

Step 2: Setting things up

Once your keyboard is set, open it up in any app, and tap on the emoji/GIF button on the top-left to open the emoji, stickers and GIFs page. Towards the right, you will find the create button. Tap on it. You will be asked to log in to a Microsoft Account to proceed.

Next, give your keyboard app some moments and you should then have a new text-box under the create section. Type in a text prompt that you want to see turned into an image and proceed to try it out.

DALL E 3 will usually give you multiple image options for your prompts, and when you are in an app like WhatsApp where you may want to send this generated image, simply tap on the image to send it ahead.

Congratulations, you now have the power of AI-generated images built right into your keyboard, available in seconds. While you’re at it, you can also customise the SwiftKey layout to your liking by adjusting the theme, size and button layouts.
